James E. Tourtillott

	James E. Tourtillott, 69, of Canton, passed away at 4:10 p.m. Saturday, September 18 at his home.
	Mr. Tourtillott worked maintenance for the Canton School District, retiring in 1991.  He formerly was a bus driver and custodian for the Spoon River Valley  School District.  He was a farmer in the Fairview and Ellisville area for many years.  He was a member of Shields Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Canton.
	Mr. Tourtillott was born October 20, 1934 in Avon, the son of Jess and Hazel Fern (Butler) Tourtillott.  He married Carol Dallefeld on May 6, 1974 and she preceded him death.
	Surviving are a son, Jim Tourtillott of Canton; daughters, Darlene (Richard) Johnson of Canton, Chris Barker of Du Quoin and Eileen (Frank) Pollitt of Canton; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Tourtillott of Cuba and a sister, Shirley Weaver of Farmington.
	He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Tourtillott; father, Jess Tourtillott; mother, Hazel Fern Tourtillott; brother, Jack L. Tourtillott and sister, Mary Lou Edwards.
	Graveside funeral services were Thursday, September 23 at 11 a.m. at Avon Cemetery in Avon.  Interment followed.
	Friends called from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton.
	Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Canton High School Best Buddies Program.
